چکیده
We report a Monte Carlo study of the effects of fluctuations in the bond distribution of Ising spin glasses in a transverse magnetic field, in the paramagnetic phase in the T → 0 limit. Rare, strong fluctuations give rise to Griffiths singularities, which can dominate the zero-temperature behavior of these quantum systems, as originally demonstrated by McCoy for one-dimensional (d = 1) systems. Our simulations are done on a square lattice in d = 2 and a cubic lattice in d = 3, for a gaussian distribution of nearest neighbor (only) bonds. In d = 2, where the linear susceptibility was found to diverge at the critical transverse field strength Γc for the order-disorder phase transition at T = 0, the average nonlinear susceptibility χnl diverges in the paramagnetic phase for Γ well above Γc, as is also demonstrated in the accompanying paper by

Magnetic Properties and Phase Transitions in a Spin-1 Random Transverse Ising Model on Simple Cubic Lattice
Within the effective-field theory with correlations (EFT), a transverse random field spin-1 Ising model on the simple cubic (z=6) lattice is studied. The phase diagrams, the behavior of critical points, transverse magnetization, internal energy, magnetic specific heat are obtained numerically and discussed for different values of p the concentration of the random transverse field.
متن کاملMagnetic Properties in a Spin-1 Random Transverse Ising Model on Square Lattice
In this paper we investigate the effect of a random transverse field, distributed according to a trimodal distribution, on the phase diagram and magnetic properties of a two-dimensional lattice (square with z=4), ferromagnetic Ising system consisting of magnetic atoms with spin-1. This study is done using the effectivefield theory (EFT) with correlations method. The equations are derived using...
متن کاملGriffiths-McCoy singularities in random quantum spin chains: exact results through renormalization.
The Ma-Dasgupta-Hu renormalization group (RG) scheme is used to study singular quantities in the Griffiths phase of random quantum spin chains. For the random transverse-field Ising spin chain we have extended Fisher's analytical solution to the off-critical region and calculated the dynamical exponent exactly. Concerning other random chains we argue by scaling considerations that the RG method...
متن کاملQuantum spin glass in anisotropic dipolar systems
The spin-glass phase in the LiHoxY1−xF4 compound is considered. At zero transverse field this system is well described by the classical Ising model. At finite transverse field deviations from the transverse field quantum Ising model are significant, and one must take properly into account the hyperfine interactions, the off-diagonal terms in the dipolar interactions, and details of the full J =...
متن کاملFermionic Ising glasses withBCSpairing interaction in the presence of a transverse field
In the present work we have analyzed a fermionic infinite-ranged Ising spin glass with a local BCS coupling in the presence of transverse field. This model has been obtained by tracing out the conduction electrons degrees of freedom in a superconducting alloy. The transverse field Γ is applied in the resulting effective model. The problem is formulated in the path integral formalism where the s...
